THE GOURMET tour » in Luberon

The seasons pass, authenticity remains,
the inhabitants are keepers

of tradition: the farmers, the craftsmen perpetuate deeply-rooted
ways and nurture the spirit of the South, passing on innate
savoir-faire,
respect and love for natural resources.
Enjoy a warm and friendly welcome by local growers and you’ll discover
the variety of fruits, products and the simplest dishes such as early
vegetables with anchovy vinaigrette or the magnificent “aioli” served
with garlic mayonnaise!!
Did you know that this area we’ll be visiting together is the one with
the
most Michelin stars? The vintages are one of its greatest assets, it
personifies the art of living!
Aix-en-Provence holds the most incredible outdoor market,
innovative,
colorful and fragrant, a hymn to local products where you’ll be tempted
by many stands.
The markets animate the town with colours and noises.
In the shadows of big umbrellas the market gardeners display their
fruits
and vegetables offering a shimmering palette from which emanate the
smell
of fresh mint, basil, rosemary and spices.
In Rustrel, we’ll be visiting an oil-mill of the XVIIIth century
where the
olives are pressed in grinding wheels like 3000 years ago. Rounded
or strong, smooth or fruity, powerful or light, olive oils can be tasted
and appreciated like the great wines.

Apt is a land of orchards which grew into the title “Capital of
Candied
Fruits” thanks to its long-standing tradition and expertise: candied
fruit
making is an art and you’ll be able to discover it there.
Madame de Sévigné, in a letter to her daughter compared the city of Apt
to “a cauldron of jams”..
Goat herders have long been excellent cheese makers, here we talk
about this one done on the farm from the milk of animals running through
the Mountain of the Luberon,
the “chèvres fermiers”, in Sivergues.
You’ll discover the many
types of
this delicious production: fresh, ripe or
firm seasoned with the herbs
of
Provence.
Wine tasting will be not forgotten: we’ll be going to one of the
oldest
domains of the area.
Medieval, tower, fortified hamlet, idyllic setting for tasting of a
range

of wines: red, white but moreover the “Rosé”, the one for the long
summer evenings..
There you’ll have the opportunity to see the Museum that tells the
History of wine-making.
Lunch in Buoux will be a great moment, as we’ll be going to the
heart
of the mountain to a restaurant where delicacy and imagination together
with the products of the terroir will be a lot to remember!!
Maurice will welcome you in his incredible place where not less than
30 carriages of the old time are exposed beside the sheltered terrace
where we’ll be served: 15 appetizers (his great pride!!), melon,
tomatoes
and meat or fish all cooked with delicious aromatic herbs, goat cheeses
and incredibly fresh deserts.
