  This marvellous Luberon: the perched villages
A region into itself in Provence: a universe of colours
and savers bathed in a limpid, splendid light, it is a
very popular touring area!
Oppède-le-Vieux with the vestiges of the old village
carved into the rock.
Ménerbes, originally a fortified town, is a protestant
stronghold in Vaucluse. Writer Peter Mayle settled
here in 1990 and wrote his best sellers: you’ll find
here the different places he talked about with so
much humour!!
Lacoste: the ruined castle where Marquis de Sade
had all his misfortunes.
Senanque: a superb Romanesque abbey built in a
beautiful secluded valley the Cistercian Order chose
in the XIIth century.
In Roussillon the light ochre soil seems to glow with
a light of its own, the village is a marvellous show of
nature’s gifts. Ochre sand is everywhere and its
delicate shades are seen on the houses and the
hills around the village.
The effect is so pronounced that Rustrel, just beside
has been called the Colorado of Provence.
Apt the world capital of the crystallized fruits and
awarded the label of “Remarkable Good Taste Site”.
Fruits are grown in the orchards around the town and
candied fruit making is an art. Beside this incredible
activity going back to the Middle Ages, honey in all
his precious flavours can also be tasted here. 
Every Saturday morning, all the delicacies of this
area are seen on a very extensive market.
