The historical sites of the South Luberon
The Luberon has its significant historical heritage
and has preserved its natural environment with the
vast Luberon Regional Park..
Each road in the Luberon has a strong identity
and the villages all enjoy the Provencal style of life,
near each other but all are proud of their character.
Lauris with its XIIIth century castle dominates the
whole Durance valley.
Cadenet, the site of the pre-Roman oppida.
Lourmarin whose proud castle overlooks the town.
Listed as one of the “most beautiful villages in France”,
has an enormous character and many well-known people
live here, Henri Bosco and Albert Camus lived and are 
buried in the little cemetery.
Many musical events throughout the summer.
Ansouis with its castle dated Xth century where the
family living here today is the descendant of the first
occupants of this place ten centuries ago!!
The countess will show you her beautiful kitchen with
all the copper pots…only if it’s not dinnertime!
La Tour d’Aigues has in its centre the most incredible
castle of the Renaissance (unique in Provence and very
similar of the ones in the Loire Valley)
where an immense fire destroyed most of its walls but
what is left of it is quite an amazing site. In its basement,
you’ll see the Faience Museum.
Pertuis the most important town of this region has
beautiful facades of Renaissance houses and the
Friday morning market is not to be missed!!
